Kerala Style Beef Fry / Naadan Beef Fry

Kerala Style Beef Fry / Naadan Beef Fry

Like Beef..? I like them! Ok.. then, let's prepare a beef dish..!

Before that, let me tell you something!  In our home, beef is not a part of our staple diet. We prepare them only once in a while, like during celebrations or a family get together. May be that's the reason why I eat more food when there is beef in the menu. I would like to have them either fried or as curry.

There are different recipes for Beef fry. But this one is a typical. We also follow this recipe. Try them...Enjoy them..! :)

2. Add 2- 3 tbsp of water and pressure cook till the beef is cooked well. Please note that beef takes more time to cook. Keep the cooker closed till the pressure is gone. If there is excess water, cook till the water is dried completely.

3. Heat coconut oil in a pan and add curry leaves. Add the cooked beef and stir well. Cook on a low flame till it turns black in color. It may take 10- 15 minutes.

  4. I have never cooked beef before. How do you buy the best beef?

    1. First of all, buy beef from a good quality grocery store or from local farmers. One best way to identify good quality beef is checking it's color. Good beef will be light cherry red in color. Any color change, say greenish or brownish tint indicates it's spoiled. Another indicator of spoiled beef is that it will be tacky to touch.

  5. How many whistles should I wait for in the presuure cooker for the beeef/ veal to be cooked?

    1. Pressure cook it on high flame till the first whistle. Then, cook it on medium flame for another 10 minutes. Keep the lid closed till the pressure drops and the cooker cools down naturally. If there is any excess water, cook till the water is evaporated. Do try this recipe and let me know your feedback. :)

    2. It turned out good but I changed the recipe a bit, by ignoring the vinegar and adding more onions while frying the curry leaves. Good recipe.
