Try this spicy Kerala Beef curry this weekend and enjoy it with Rice, Appam, Idiyappam, Puttu, Porotta or Chappathi.

Ingredients
- Beef - 1 Kg, cut into medium sized cubes
- Onion - 4 large, sliced thin
- Tomato - 4 large, cut into cubes
- Green chillies - 8 to 10, slit
- Cardamom - 5 to 8
- Cinnamon - 3 to 4, 2 inch sticks
- Cloves - 6 to 8
- Black peppercorns - 15 to 20
- Star anise - 2
- Bay leaves - 1 to 2
- Curry leaves - 2 sprigs, fresh
- Ginger - 2" piece, finely chopped
- Garlic - 8 to 10 large cloves, finely chopped
- Red chilly powder - 2 to 3 tsp
- Coriander powder - 2 to 3 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Coriander leaves - For garnishing
- Oil - As required
- Salt - As required
- Water - As required
- Dry roast ingredients from 5 to 10.
- Grind the roasted spices into fine powder. Keep it aside.
- Heat some oil in a pan. Add garlic, onions and curry leaves. Cook till the onion turns translucent.
- Add ginger and mix well.
- Add chilly powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder. Stir well.
- Add little water and cook for 1 minute.
- Add tomatoes and green chillies. Stir.
- Add beef and salt. Mix thoroughly.
- Transfer beef into a pressure cooker. Add water just till the level of beef.
- Cook in a medium flame for 10 to 15 minutes or till it is done.
- When the pressure is gone, open the lid. Let the flame be at simmer now.
- Add the roasted spices according to your taste. Mix well.
- If the gravy is watery, let it boil till it become thick enough.
- Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve.
- Do the steps from 3 to 8 in the pressure cooker itself to avoid the use of extra pan. ;-)
- Always adjust the spices according to your taste.
- Beef takes more time to cook than chicken. So pressure cook it for more time.
