Chilly Paneer is a very popular Indo-Chinese dish. To be more clear, it is an Indian adaption of Chinese recipe. This is made using fried Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese), which is quite common in India. Almost all restaurants will have this dish in their menu. Well, why do you want to go to the restaurants if you can make them at your sweet home? :)
Ingredients:-
1. Paneer/Indian Cottage Cheese - 2 cup, cut into small cubes
2. All Purpose Flour - 1 tbsp
3. Corn Flour - 1 tbsp
4. Onion - 2, medium sized, cut into square shape
5. Capsicum - 1/2 of one capsicum, cut into square shape
6. Green Chillies - 3, medium sized, finely sliced
7. Ginger - 1 tsp, finely chopped
8. Garlic - 1/2 tsp, finely chopped
9. Tomato Sauce - 3 tsp
10. Chilly Sauce - 3 tsp
11. Soy Sauce - 2 tsp
12. Salt - As per taste
13. Water - 2 cups or as required
14. Oil - 2 tbsp
Method:-
1. Mix all purpose flour, corn flour and 1/2 tsp of soy sauce with necessary water to make a thick paste.
2. Dip the paneer cubes into this paste and fry till golden brown. Keep it aside.
3. Heat oil in a non-stick pan or kadai. Add the chopped ginger and garlic. Fry for 1 or 2 minutes.
4. Add chopped onions and cook them till translucent.
5. Now add the chopped capsicum and green chillies. Cook for few minutes.
6. Add tomato sauce, chilly sauce and say sauce. Mix well.
7. Add paneer cubes,2 cups of water and little salt. Let it boil. If you want the dry version of Chilly Paneer, skip this step.
8. Cook till the gravy is thick enough.
9. Serve hot with fried rice, naan or paratha.
