Tomato Chutney or Thakkali Chammanthi is so easy to make. And, it's so delicious too. I like them a lot.
1. Onion - 1, diced into square peices
2. Tomato - 3 large sized, diced into square peices
3. Garlic - 2 medium sized cloves, finely chopped
4. Dry Red Chilly - 2
5. Curry Leaves - 2 sprigs
6. Oil - 1 tbsp or as required
7. Urad Dal/Ozhunnu Parippu - 1 tsp
8. Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp
9. Salt - As per taste
Method
1. Heat oil in a pan. Add 1/2 tsp of urad dal, 1 sprig curry leaves and 2 dry chillies. Fry it in a medium flame. Take care not to burn it.
2. Add onion and garlic. Stir.
3. When the onion turns it's color, add tomatoes and salt.
4. Cook till they are mushy. Switch off the flame. Let it cool down.
5. Grind it to a smooth paste.
6. Heat little oil in a pan. Splatter mustard seeds and 1/2 tsp urad dal. Add 1 sprig of curry leaves and turn off the flame.
7. Now, add this mixture (tadka) to the grounded chutney.
8. Serve hot with idlis,dosas or even rice. Yummm.!! :)
